 Green Luxury Car News: The Environmental Transport Association named the Jaguar XJ Britain's greenest luxury car in its 2009 Buyer's Guide. It is the third year consecutively that the Jaguar XJ 2.7 Diesel has received the prestigious award. Criteria considered by the ETA in its review of 1,300 vehicles include power, emissions, fuel efficiency, and engine noise.
"In our tests the XJ consistently outperforms its rivals in the luxury car class," said Andrew Davis, director of ETA. The Jaguar XJ displayed its fuel-economy credentials demonstratively by achieving more than 1,000 miles on a single tank of fuel, which averages out to 53.5 mpg.
"I am delighted we have won this award for the third year running," said Geoff Cousins, managing director of Jaguar UK. "We fully recognize our responsibility to the environment and are committed to playing our role in developing technology solutions for our cars to address climate change -- this award shows we are heading in the right direction."
The all-new Jaguar XJ will be unveiled in London in early July 2009, with first deliveries to customers occurring in early 2010. It is the first Jaguar to utilize the aerospace-inspired aluminum body architecture. The automaker's highly touted Gen III petrol and diesel engines are available in the new Jaguar XJ. The eco-friendly luxury sedan also features an eye-catching glass roof with a panoramic view.
